chapter 13 bankruptcy2 In chapter 13 bankruptcy, are payroll deductions(garnishment) before or after taxes?
auntienanny230 asked:

I have just filled for bankruptcy and know they will be garnishing payments from my pay check. I was just wondering if any one could tell me if it is before or after federal taxes and FICA and medicare deductions. I live in Tennessee if that helps.
I am trying to get an idea of what my take home pay will be now— for budgeting purposes.

Any Federal payments or even medical, life or dental payments are not taxed so thier for they are deducted first then what is left is taxed

It is not going to reduce your reportable income. After.

After taxes. Doesn’t matter if you pay for something when you buy it or after you file bankruptcy, you pay taxes on those earning either way. You’ll love this too. If any of your debt was forgiven, you pay income taxes on that too. Doesn’t pay to go bankrupt.
