Hi Freckles.
You can apply for a prepaid credit card from your Bank if you dont feel comfortable getting a credit card.
I am pretty sure that those help.
Question for you though, how was the bankruptcy process? My husband and I are currently in the beginning process where you take the leap of faith and quit paying bills. We will have our attorney paid by the end of February. I just thought I would ask.

i assume you have a checking account -=- what i would do is save up until i have 1000 dollars and buy a cd and than go get a secure loan for 6 months for 1000 dollars using the cd as back up!! after 6 months you will have a loan paid in full and on time on your report!! if the interest is 2.7 gained and 8.6 paid this would only cost you about 30 dollars — explain why and what you are doing to the loan officer!!!
